[ It is with a slightly grim expression on this former Captain, ex-Avenger's face that he looks into the screen and addresses the network at large.
He isn't sure of the details; he isn't even sure if this clue he'd discovered really belongs to any of them, or if it might have belonged to the creature they'd just killed, but it feels important to share anyway.
His voice is calm, collected and confident in a way that hints this probably isn't his first rodeo. ]
My name is Steve Rogers and I, like most of you, I imagine, were stranded on this unknown spacecraft with no real idea how you got here or why. I think it's pretty safe to say we're all probably still looking for answers especially in the wake of the extraterrestrial attacks.
Anyway, I'm posting this video for a couple reasons. First, on my way back to the mess hall, I came across this.
[ He holds up a (now-folded) piece of red cloth into the screen. It looks downright destruction-proof and probably a bit stretchy. It is also very obviously torn from a greater expanse of fabric, like it'd been through something of a struggle. It, of course, belonged to one of the stranded passengers on this ship, but Steve doesn't know that. ]
I'm not sure what it is or who it belonged to. But anyone who wants to take a look at it, or better yet, might be able to provide a couple of answers can find me on deck two.
[ Steve takes a breath, pausing before he speaks again. ]
And secondly, it feels wrong not to give those we lost a proper soldier's send-off. I know it'll be difficult but they gave their lives to save the rest of us and we owe it to them to give them this much at least. Let me know what you think.
I think that's pretty much it. Feel free to find me on deck two or send me a message.
[ And with that, the video ends. ]

Date: 2017-06-21 08:06 am (UTC)I think it belongs to Kara Danvers. [ a beat, before she corrects herself: ] Belonged. I haven't seen her or talked to her in days.

Date: 2017-06-22 04:29 am (UTC)[ Steve's voice is genuine. He'd been hoping the fabric didn't belong to any one of the kidnapped passengers but the likelihood didn't seem too high.
He hates it when he's right about things like this. ]
I didn't see anything else, just this. We could send out a search team, see if we might find her.
[ Or find her body. ]

Date: 2017-06-22 08:55 am (UTC)I would volunteer.

Date: 2017-06-23 06:12 am (UTC)In a place like this one, he can only think the loss likely means just that much more.
But before they confirm it, a search party might be necessary. ]
Great. I'll consider you signed up, then.
And what do you call yourself?

Date: 2017-07-05 05:34 am (UTC)[ Steve's mouth quirks into the barest of smiles, teasing without being outright humorous about it, and nods. ]
Good to meet you, Cassandra. You think you could join me on deck two in about an hour?

Date: 2017-07-05 06:46 am (UTC)I'll be at the entrance of the mess hall.

Date: 2017-06-21 08:09 am (UTC)That's a good idea. The send-off. A memorial of sorts? [ since they have no means of recovering dorothy's body. lucas', they can do something with. ] Have you been able to make any sense of why some people come back from the dead and others don't?

Date: 2017-06-22 04:37 am (UTC)[ His expression is amiable but serious. Obviously he's glad to get a look at some of the faces on board this ship, but the circumstances are a little unfortunate. ]
A memorial, exactly. As for your last question ... well, I'm not much of a science guy. [ He leaves that kind of hypothesizing to the guys who can do it, guys like Tony and Bruce.
His mouth twists into a frown. He wishes they were here right now. ]
So your guess is as good as mine.

Date: 2017-06-22 08:54 am (UTC)When were you thinking of holding the memorial?

Date: 2017-06-23 06:17 am (UTC)[ He's waiting for the science-types to butt in and make their hypotheses. Or maybe he's just too used to Tony's way of doing things back at the Avengers HQ. ]
The sooner the better, I think. We may have to consider that that last attack might not be the last.
[ Therefore, they'll need more time to better prepare themselves. There will be no more lives lost. ]

Date: 2017-06-21 08:50 pm (UTC)Hello, Steve, it's him again. ]
A funeral would be nice. I'd like to attend, if that's alright with you, sir.

Date: 2017-06-22 04:44 am (UTC)[ Steve is relieved to find that the boy is okay. He might be a little strange but there's something about him that he can kind of relate to. Something that reminds him a little of himself, especially the him that he used to be.
He nods. ]
Of course it's all right. I encourage everyone on the ship to come.
